Youth catechism daily devotion Read Eph 5:22-33 Dwell Although marriage is not likely something you’re thinking about very much right now, it would be good to consider God’s plan and design for marriage while you’re young. Think about your parents or other couples you know who are following God’s design for marriage as they serve one another in Jesus Christ. Look at God’s plan and what he calls husbands and wives to in this passage. Explain verse 25 and what this means and how husbands are supposed to love their wives. Pray Spent some time in prayer about marriage. Pray for your potential spouse if God might lead you to marry one day. Ask him to guard your heart and help you grow in Christ.
Youth and adult catechism daily devotion Read Ephesians 5-15-21 Dwell We would be wise to remember that life is short and the days are evil, so we need to make the most of the time we have and seek to glorify God. We should examine ourselves and confess our sin on a regular basis. We are also advise in this passage to speak to each other in ways that bring glory to God and we are to give Him thanks. How does verse 19 say we are to speak to each other? What are some things you need to turn away from in order to live wisely and make the most of the time you have? Memorize Ask a friend or family member to quiz you on 1 Timothy 2:1. Continue to practice reciting it through the week. Pray Thank God for all of the many blessings He has poured out on your life and ask him to help you to live wisely this week.
Read Ephesians 5:1-14 Dwell You might be familiar with this passage already, but if not, it’s a strong reminder of how we are to live as imitators of God and walk in the light. As men and women who know Christ as Savior, we are to walk in the light and expose fruitless works that are not pleasing to the Lord. Inverse four, what are we told to do instead of those things mentioned as not suitable? What does the fruit of the light consist of how can we live as children of the light? Memorize Quiz yourself on first Timothy 21 when you have a free moment this week. consider using an app to read it out loud to you. Pray Thank God for bringing you out of darkness and into the light. Ask Him to help you live a life that pleases and brings glory to Him.
Youth and adult catechism daily devotion. Read 1 Tim 2:8-15 Dwell Why is the account of Adam and eve mentioned in verses 13 through 15? What are some ways you can devote yourself more to Jesus and good works to glorify him? Paul warned Timothy about issues people in the church of Ephesus were dealing with. Men were angry over arguments about myths and genealogies false teachers were starting, while women were treating church gatherings as a place to flaunt their nice things. Instead, Paul challenge the man to humbly pray and the women to devote themselves to good works. We also see the account of Adam and eve verses 13 through 15 which helps to affirm the important role of females in the church. Memorize Read 1 Timothy 2:1 allowed several times today in writing in your journal Pray Pray for your church and the leader ship there, specifically that godly men and women will follow what God says here about leadership roles in the church.
Special Guest Toby Montgomery shares an encouraging message from the book of Matthew to help us understand more about what faith is.
Youth and adult catechism daily devotion: Read: 1 Tim 2:1-7 Dwell We need to be reminded, as Timothy did, to pray for all people, but especially leaders and those in authority. Paul was appointed to share the gospel truth of Christ Jesus, and we are reminded in these verses that God‘s desire is for all to come to know him as Lord and Savior. Who are we specifically instructed to pray for in verses one and two? How should we view politicians and leaders? Who do we need to put our hope in rather than earthly leaders? Memorize Right first Timothy 21 on a note card and tape it to your mirror carry it in your pocket. Pray Spent some time praying for government officials, politicians, and leaders. Pray they might be reconciled to God through Jesus.
Our students had the following devotion as a part of our catechism: How do you tend to receive advice or wisdom shared with you from godly adults in your life? Paul gave instruction, yet some rejected it, and as a result, their faith was destroyed. In seeking to grow in our faith, we must take the instruction of others into consideration as long as it aligns with the truth of God's Word. Read: 1 Tim 1:18-20 What can we learn from mistakes and the times we've rejected instruction from godly people in our lives (see vs 19)? Use this as a part of your table talk today. Pray together and ask God to give you godly mentors who will help consistently point you to Him.
Pastor Michael shares a message about love.
Our students had the following devotion as a part of our catechism: Paul described himself as the worst of sinners several times in these verses. This is the reason Jesus Christ came 0 His whole purpose was to save sinners. We all sin and desperately need a Savior. Thankfully, Jesus is patient with us to come to know Him as Lord and Savior too, as He was with Paul. Trust in Him today and give Him all of the praise and glory for what He has done. Read: 1 Tim 1:15-17 How does the way that you spend your time reflect who you give glory to? What needs to change? Use this as a part of your table talk today. Pray together and confess sin and humbly come to Jesus admitting your need for a Savior.
There's so much going on today. Our Jr and Sr High Youth Ministries are loading up to head out to TYM Camp in TN. We are gearing up for service tonight and making great plans for next Wednesday's Trivia Night! Y'all it's going DOWN.
Our students had the following devotion as a part of our catechism: God's grace radically changed Paul's life. Timothy needed this reminder, and so do we. No matter where we are, God is not done with us. He offers to transform our lives as he did Paul's. We too can experience overflowing grace when we place our trust in God. Read: 1 Tim 1:12-14 Do you feel unworthy or struggle with unbelief as Paul did? How can you be encouraged by this passage and Paul's story? Use this as a part of your table talk today. Pray together and ask God to use your story and testimony of His grace as you meet and share the truth of the Gospel with those in your life who don't yet know Him as Savior.
Our students had the following devotion as a part of our catechism: In 1 Tim 1:8-11, we see that the false teachers in Ephesus didnt make the law's primary purpose clear. Paul refuted the false teaching that tried to convince people they had to keep Jewish customs and practices in order to be right with God. The law can't save us or give us grace, but it reveals our need for salvation by Grace. How will you turn from false teaching and encourage others to steer clear of trusting in their own good works? Use this as a part of your table talk today. Pray together and thank God for how the law reveals our need for His grace.
Character Sketches of Apostle John - Matt Jarvis - Wed., May 29, 2019
Our students have the following devotion today as a part of our catechism: "We are constantly bombarded with distractions of all kinds, The churches in Paul's day faced distractions as well, specifically those introduced by false teachers. We may be tempted to turn our focus away from God, but just as Paul reminded Timothy, we need to keep our focus on Jesus and the grace He offers. Read 1 Tim 1:1-7 and use this as your table talk today. Pray together and ask God to free you of distractions and help you to love from a pure heart and sincere faith as verse 5 says.

We are so excited about our new curriculum for our We Believe catechism that begins this Sunday. Catechism is a system of teaching our kids through adults the same lesson but at an age appropriate level. We believe this is vital for families - to empower them to grow together in their walk with the Lord. This system allows families to talk about the lessons and promotes discipleship in the homes. We reward our nursery through 5th graders every month with a pizza party which helps instill in them a desire to learn and grow, a desire to study the Bible, and to share their knowledge with others. As they move up into ELEV8 and Fuzed, they continue to develop their knowledge and skill. This is why it’s important to keep them connected in church, so that when they go to college or in the marketplace, they can stand strong in their faith and be able to defend it. If you have any questions, ask anyone of our student pastors: Donnie Turner, Erica Bethel, or Mark Knight.
Did you know that we have a thriving Widows Ministry? It's thriving because of Linda Guinn, the Widows Ministry Director since 2016. She is a fireball. She is committed. She is faithful. She helps them when they need it, she travels with them, she visits them, and she is simply amazing. If you are a widow and have not participated, don't hesitate! Call her at 270.875.5045. Their next lunch will be on June 18 at 11:30 at Catfish Harbor in Madisonville.
